2012, the most talked about year in modern history is upon us. A lot of the speculation and many predictions that abound have their roots in an interpretation of the Mayan calendar which suggests that the Sun is completing a cosmic cycle and beginning a new one.
Looking astrologically at the 21st December 2012 (a popular date in predictions), I found there is a rare alignment of Jupiter in Gemini, Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn which forms a yod, or finger of fate in the heavens.

On 4th June 2011 Jupiter entered Taurus and began a 12 month cycle that will end in June 2012. Jupiter has been helping to ground you and consolidate the areas of your life where this is needed. This is of particular relevance where family responsibilities and career are concerned. In general this represents a fairly stable and secure time when you can be productive and reap the just rewards for your efforts. That said it is unlikely that success will come without hard work and at times life may lack the glamour and fun that you love. Being more patient will help, as will taking one step at a time and avoiding taking on more commitments than you can handle. A constant question for you may be ‘is it worth it’? and where the reward does not justify the effort you may decide on change.
Life is set to be a lot different once Jupiter enters Gemini on 11th June 2012. This is good news for you, as the planet of opportunity will be far more beneficial to you while in Gemini. Among other things it will increase your social life and get you out about a lot more than when it is in Taurus. As well as having more time for your existing circle of friends you could find yourself making many new ones. Jupiter will be encouraging you to broaden your horizons and you may do this through the study of a new interest.
Jupiter is retrograde from 4th October 2012 – 30th January 2013 and during this time you can rethink your plans and formulate new ideas that may bear fruit in the year ahead.
Saturn
A new chapter in your life began when Saturn entered Libra in the autumn of 2009. Saturn will be continuing this phase up until the time that it enters Scorpio in the autumn of 2012. The area of communication and learning is the target of Saturn’s lessons. Self knowledge will be top of the learning list, so you can expect to discover a great deal about yourself during this period. Saturn is helping you to understand what works and what doesn't’t when communicating with others. Are you able to get a positive response when you ask for what you need? Do you expect too much of others, or too little? These are the questions that you will need to answer.
Saturn will be in retrograde motion from the 7th February – 25th June 2012. This gives you an opportunity to look at your existing thought patterns and mind sets, and decide if they are still appropriate and working in your best interest. In general this is a good time to observe how your thoughts create your reality, and if necessary change your way of thinking. With Saturn in Libra other people will accurately reflect any difficulties you have in communication, and that makes this a beneficial time for receiving counselling or other advice and support from others.
From 5th October Saturn will be in Scorpio and the influence it has in your life will be changing. In the years ahead you can expect to experience life on a deeper level. There is an intensity with Scorpio that draws you to engage more on a feeling level with life, and this will be particularly true where home and family are concerned. Saturn will be helping you to attain the wisdom that leads you to feel in control of your life, and appreciative of the support of your family.
