What on Earth is Jupiter doing in 2011?

Here is a general guide to the present influences of Jupiter. Jupiter entered Taurus on 4th June 2011 and will occupy this fixed Earth sign until June 2012 when it enters Gemini.

Jupiter in Taurus sextile Chiron in Pisces. 15th February

This is the last of a sequence of alignments between Jupiter in Taurus and Chiron in Pisces which began last year and last occurred around the 7th December 2011. This combination of planets can provide opportunities for healing, and the close proximity of Neptune to Chiron suggests that for some of us these opportunities will relate to unfinished business from our past. We may for instance, have contact with a person or group of people that we previously felt alienated by or had disagreements with. In this renewed contact we now have a greater awareness of our individual qualities and can see past events in a different light. Jupiter trine Pluto - Continuing strong influence

The last of a sequence of alignment between Jupiter and Pluto occurs or the 13th March 2012. The second of the series occurred on 28th October 2011. Jupiter represents Spiritual growth; Pluto power and destiny, and I was wondering what in the world this could possibly mean when I remembered that Jupiter is in Taurus and Pluto in Capricorn. With both planets placed in Earth signs this alignment may not give us glimpses of the beyond, but they will draw our attention to what is right here and now!

'What can we gain from this alignment?' It is my experience that 'enlightened' women and men appear to have harmoniously blended their Spiritual and physical awareness. They seem to have a serenity and grace that reflects their acceptance of all that life has dealt them. So often we get caught up in trying to change aspects of our lives, searching for what we need, and dealing with what's wrong, that we forget to honour what we already have; that wonderful essence of Spirit that has always been with us, is still with us now, and always will be.

Jupiter in Taurus teaches us how gratitude for what we have can be the key that connects our body, heart and Soul, allowing us to experience the wondrous art of simply being. The influence of the Jupiter - Pluto alignment can bring us very much into the moment, and to a place of empowerment. I have heard it is said that Buddha was a Taurus, and certainly someone of this Earth who knew what being present meant. Having searched for answers he came to enlightenment as he relaxed into his body sat beneath a tree. Hopefully we will all feel our connection with the Earth at this time and realise what a lotus paradise it can be.

Jupiter turned retrograde in Taurus 30th Aug- 25th Dec 2011

Having inspired and encouraged us through the qualities of Taurus, Jupiter turned retrograde at the end of August. Jupiter has been helping us to build on our natural talents. In retrograde motion Jupiter has us go over old ground, which may mean learning lessons we might have missed. If we have encountered obstacles to our progress it is time to look for solutions. Taurus governs our physical well-being and our finances, so these areas may benefit from this retrograde phase of Jupiter. That said, If we have been reckless or overindulgent we may need to face the consequences. A downside of Jupiter can be false hope or wishful thinking. With Jupiter in Taurus we need to base our growth on the realistic use of resources not speculation. It will also be better for us to progress one step at a time. Jupiter is retrograde until Christmas Day 2011.

Jupiter in Taurus from June 2011.

Jupiter began a 12 month journey through Taurus on 4th June 2011. Jupiter in Taurus is going to have a calming influence on the issues we all face, but it will not make our problems go away. What it will do is offer practical solutions and encourage us to build on the things we value in life. Taurus is about steady but sustained growth and this will apply to the development and use of our talents as well as our finances.

We all have Taurus in our birth charts somewhere and along with the 2nd house, it governs our natural talents and abilities. What we are naturally good at we tend to do well, What we do well tends to succeed and what we succeed at generally earns us the best reward. It is this dynamic that Jupiter in Taurus will be promoting for us all.

Taurus is also the sign with qualities that echo Buddhist philosophies. Jupiter is often regarded as the planet that symbolises our Spiritual growth,' journey', or mission in life: it is what we are searching for and how we can attain it. As with the Buddhist philosophies Taurus reminds us that all that is intrinsically pure or sacred about us has always been with us, is with us now and always will be. So often we get caught up in searching for who we are or trying to perfect or change ourselves. Jupiter in Taurus reminds us that, as with Lewis Carol's Alice, we are may already be standing in the garden we are looking for.

Jupiter in Taurus promotes gratitude for what we have and perhaps in so doing offers us an antidote to the insecurities, uncertainties and fears that accompany this time of great changes in our world. 'Take it easy' says Taurus, and be mindful that 'easy is often right and simple the best.'
