WHAT ON EARTH IS PLUTO DOING

Pluto is in Capricorn until 2024

Moderating Influence.

We are still experiencing the influence of Saturn in challenging alignment to Pluto. This aspects was first exact at the beginning of 2010. We may see further powerful shifts and changes in the world of finances, governments and governing bodies around this time; the World Order is changing. Global economy, environmental change, issues of food, water and population are becoming more important to us all.

In astrology the planet Pluto is regarded as the ruler of Scorpio; it is the giver of life and the bringer of death, and in its influence on our lives it shapes our destiny, driving and motivating us to fulfills our potential and be all that we can be. In the world today we are becoming more aware of how separate or not our lives are from others; how what we do has consequences and that consideration of others must play a part in our actions and deeds.

Pluto first entered the sign of Capricorn on the 26th January 2008 an event that last occurred in the mid eighteenth century. Pluto was leaving the sign of Sagittarius which it first entered in 1994, and we only have to look at the things governed by that sign to see how influential the planet has been in our world over the last 13 or so years. Politics, religion, journalism and education have all taken centre stage in our lives, sometimes alone and sometimes together! The world of journalism seemingly wields more power now than one can shake the proverbial stick at, political correctness has us in a stranglehold and it will be no surprise to hear one day that children will be taking intelligence tests in the womb!

But what of the good news I hear you cry. Well over the last 13 years we have been sorting fact from fiction, and learning who we truly are and what we aspire to be. With luck, and a strong dose of hard work, we have learnt that each day can be an adventure for us to live rather than something to worry about or a problem to solve.

Now back to Capricorn. Knowing what we now know, how are we going to put this knowledge to constructive use? Climate change, poverty, and other global issues must be tackled and now, if we are to secure a future for our children. Pluto is power and Capricorn responsibility so the stage is set for the re-ordering of our world and hopefully the successful resolution of the global conflicts and imbalances.

On a personal level the significance of Pluto’s influence will be felt in relation to our long term commitments, such as marriage, career and parenting. We may need to question the responsibilities we have taken on in life and the duties we perform. A question that relates to us both personally and globally is a simple one, ‘do we care’, and if we do, then ‘what are we going to do about it?’ Pluto in Capricorn heralds a time of positive action when what needs to be done can be done and what needs to change can be changed.

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2010

Pluto continues to form challenging aspects to Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. This is a time when the forces for positive reformation in the world square up, quite literally, to the resistance of established power bases.

During the first six months of 2008 Pluto began to assert itself through the sign of Capricorn, something it hadn't done for about 240 years. What I wrote then can be read above, and now in light of our recent experience of Pluto’s affect we have a better idea of what lies ahead now Pluto is back in Capricorn and set to be there for the next 16 years. In the world Capricorn is the sign that has rulership over such things as governments, world trade, banks, the financial market, investment, property and there I think I had better leave it, as I am sure you get the picture!

Pluto brings to light issues in order to make them more conscious. It works on the underlying values, intentions and motives that fuel our lives. And, talking of fuel, Pluto also governs oil, gas and other power sources. I am sure most readers see a half full glass where there is one, rather than a half empty one, but it has to be said it is a strain at times. Pluto has shown us the real state of our economy, the world economy, and got the ball rolling when it comes to seeing what really is valuable in life.

Over the coming years we can hope to see more care taken of our planet and a reduction in the destructive exploitation of it. We can hope to see a fairer and just society where we take greater care of each other, particularly the elderly and the vulnerable. We can look forward to global financial backing for world health and food aid, for as we know while many suffer stress and anxiety over fluctuating share prices, far more die form sickness and starvation for want of basic needs every day.

Pluto means business and we had better take the issues it raises seriously. In the next decade humanity will be focusing on what is really important, but least we should become consumed with fear there are a few things worth remembering. While it journeyed through Sagittarius Pluto made us very aware of what is right for the future of this planet if humanity means to survive. It is said that the point of power is in the moment, let us pray we use it to make the right choices.
